So I’ve finally decided to write a little something about me. I know people are looking for some link somewhere called “about” and now they have it. So here goes, in no particular order:
- I like to surf…my current board is a 10′ noserider. A Mark Martinson model, by Robert August.
- I like to ride the Newberg skatepark
- I used to be a DMOZ editor, covering the Business and Economy section of Newberg, OR.
- I’m a co-founder, with Matt, of FinAidPro.com.
- I built Admissionary.com.
- I write another blog called Slacker Manager.
- I am an alumni of Point Loma Nazarene College (now University) and of George Fox University. At Point Loma I was in the first graduating class to recieve a BA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I received an MBA from GFU in 2001.
- I am married to my best friend.
- I am a
recent and irregularretired participant in Brainstorms. - I talked my brother-in-law into giving my then-one-year-old son a mohawk haircut. That way, I couldn’t get into trouble.
- I spent a lot of time working in Human Resources and Organizational Development at a Fortune 500 company. Now I’m a university administrator at a small liberal arts school.
- I’m a Christian and a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers).
- Bush or Kerry? Kucinich, please.
- My motto: Begin. Again.
- I am tattooed and I’d like more.
- I am a fan of Jesus, my wife, my son, Richard Foster, Richard Rohr, Howard Zinn, Thomas Kelly, Stanley Hauerwas, John Woolman and Robert Greenleaf.
- I am not fond of post-modern relativism, but I understand the necessity.
- The most expensive thing I’ve sold on eBay was a satellite phone for around $500.
- I began the Link Harvest in order to keep track of my own list of interesting links. I stopped using the Link Harvest and moved over to del.icio.us/bren. You can see the fruits of my labor on the right side of this page.
- I have been messing around on the web since 1994. I’ve been regularly blogging since 2001
- My first purchase on Amazon.com was the “Idiots Guide” in 1996.
- I like Volkswagens, especially old busses. I’ve personally owned two and my family has owned four. The last one I had was a 1967 double cab. The one before that was a 1979 hightop camper and I gave it to my friend Brandon who proceeded to live in it for a year. Brandon gave it away to some Seattle hippie. And so it goes.
- Favorite music or movie? Sorry, I’m just not that attached to movies and music. Although, here’s a sample of what’s on my mp3 player at the moment: John Michael Talbot, MXPX, Everlast, Kirk Franklin, Eminiem,. Ecclectic, eh? And I wouldn’t mind owning the Godfather trilogy.
- I wrote the initial draft of this list on a Palm Tungsten C, while sitting next to a country club swimming pool while on vacation in July, 2004.
- I’m trying, again, to learn to play the harmonica. Much to my family’s dismay.
- I have worked overseas and would be interested in doing so again. Especially if there were warm waves nearby.
- My dad has a ponytail. My mom does not. They are, happily, divorced.
- I plan to write a book about being an effective slacker. You know, someday.
- I’m not much of a gamer, but I do wish I possesed at least *some* chess skills.
- I was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome. I have no external ears and must wear a bone conducting hearing aid.
More to come…
