Day of rest (or two)

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Taking tomorrow morning as a rest day. I fly to Boise early in the am, and my legs are pretty sore. I think it would be unwise to push myself through sprints in the morning. I’ll take running shoes to Boise and if the weather is decent I’ll run either Thursday evening or Friday morning.

Longer again

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

Woke up at 5am, stretched for 10 minutes, ran 3.2 miles. The run itself felt better, especially toward the end. The beginning was hurtful because my legs were sore from yesterday’s sprints…haven’t used sprint muscles in a while, apparently. Overall pace today was 10.18 (maybe I should make a pace graph, too).

First sprints

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Ran sprints this morning. 60 meters x 8, with a two minute cool down between each sprint. Made my legs feel weird.

Longer

Monday, April 9th, 2007

This morning I ran in a fashion that real runners would term “LSD”, or long slow distance. I was certainly slow (with a 10 minute mile pace), but not particularly long. Well, long for me but… Anyway, felt pretty good. Feels like I’ve got some minor shinsplints though.

A very Good Friday

Friday, April 6th, 2007

Excellent hike today up at Opal Creek. 6.6 miles, roundtrip. Sunny and warm. Awesome.

Still hurts

Friday, April 6th, 2007

Woke up at 5am, stretched for 10 minutes and ran the short loop again. Got a lot closer to a flat 8 minute pace this time, though: 8.09. I’m pleased about that. And that included a section of street where I walked because there was a stray dog barking and chasing me!
This morning, after dropping […]

Plodding

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

Woke up at 5am, stretched for 10 minutes and ran the short loop. Kept an 8.5 pace and it still hurt. I’ll be stoked when I can run double the distance at the same pace!

Slow

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

I intended to run today, but didn’t. My legs are pretty sore from yesterday and, I assume, from all the stretching I’ve been doing. The last thing I want to do is overdo it and get shinsplints or something. I’ll stretch today and run tomorrow.

First day

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Ran the quick loop this morning. 1.5 miles never felt so long. I’m going to work on intensity while running, so I tried to keep my pace as quick as I could. Last I remembered, my pace on longer runs was a miserable 9, so that’s what I was aiming to fall below. Today came […]

Magness Tree Farm loop

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Went up for a hike this morning at Magness Tree Farm. Short hike, but I had Asher on my back while Amy kept an eye on Truman and his friend Abby.
I stretched for 10 minutes this morning, doing the “synergy fitness” stretching routine. I intend to do this routine twice a day (morning and night), […]
